  • Which browsers are supported by GFACE?
    GFACE supports Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Internet Explorer is not supported right now.
  • Why can't I sign up for an account on GFACE yet?
    Thanks for your interest in being part of the GFACE community. GFACE is currently in invitation-only Closed Beta. To receive an initiation you have to sign up for an account before you can register on GFACE. Thanks for your understanding. See you on GFACE.
  • How can I apply for an Closed-Beta invitation?
    First of all sign-up with your email address. Our Closed BETA invitations are sent out periodically so you may not get your invitation immediately, please be patient your invitation will follow shortly.
  • The "Send" button is greyed out, why can’t I click on it?
    Please make sure that you typed in a valid email address (username@example.com). Once you have done this, the “Send” button will become active.
  • I am told, that a username is already taken. What does that mean?
    Usernames are unique on GFACE. If someone already taken a username you will not be able to take this one anymore. Sorry.
  • While registering I received "E-mail invalid" error message. What does this mean?
    Please make sure that you are using the email address that you used to sign up for the Closed Beta invitation. For now, only invited people can join our GFACE community.
  • I didn't receive my activation e-mail. How can I request a new one?
    First of all we suggest you have a quick look to see if your activation email has been placed into your junk mail or spam box on your email system. You will only receive emails from GFACE when you request them, so please remember to add us to your safe senders list or mark "gface.com" as no-spam in you email filters. If you don’t find your activation email in your Junk mail folder, you can request a new activation email by contacting GFACE Customer Service on http://crytek.kayako.com . Please don't forget to let us know your e-mail address so that we can identify you. We will send you an activation email manually.
  • If I haven't activated my account can I still use GFACE?
    To keep GFACE a nice spam free environment, we don’t allow anonymous posting. This means that your account has to be activated in order for you to be able to post, comment and use the GFACE communication systems. You can still use GFACE in a limited way, to discover interesting content and share them on other social touch points.
  • Logging and Logging out

  • I received "Incorrect E-mail" error message, while I tried to login on GFACE
    Make sure that your caps lock key is turned off, and then try to log in again. Make sure that you have entered your login email address correctly. Your GFACE login email address is the address you used to sign up for GFACE. You can reset you password by using our password reset page located under the "Login button" at the top of the screen.
  • I keep getting a message saying wrong email address or password
    There are a couple of things you can do:

    • Make sure that your caps lock key is turned off, and then try to log in again.
    • If you were unable to log in after making sure your caps lock key was off, then try resetting your password.
    • If you still can’t log in, try using a different web browser. We recommend the following browsers for the best experience on GFACE. Download the latest version of Chrome or Firefox.
  • Why does GFACE log me out after a certain amount of time?
    Some of the features in GFACE are designed to help you stay safe. You might be in an internet café or using a public access point and forget to logout. You don't want the next guy who comes along playing with your account. So GFACE will automatically log you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you login to GFACE by opening a second browser your original session will automatically end. System will logout you automatically keeping you secure and safe.
  • How can I logout?
    It’s really easy. Just navigate to the top of the page and click on the account drop down button under your username. Then just select “Logout”.
  • Password Recovery and Changing

  • I can't login. I have forgotten my password. Can I recover it? What do I do?
    If you have forgotten your password, we can send you a reset link. Just click on the "Login" button on our homepage and then select the "Forgot Password" link. Now all you have to do is type in your email address and click on the "Send" button. You will receive a message containing a link to reset your password.
  • Can I change my Password?
    You can reset your password, which enables you automatically to renew your password.
  • I received an error message when I tried to reset my password
    For security reasons our password rest links have a time limit. The link in the reset email may have expired. Please check the expiry time in the email you received. If you have copied the link from the email please make sure you have copy and pasted the complete link from the email you received into your web browser’s address bar and hit enter. If this did not work, request another password reset from the "Login" drop down on the homepage.
  • Can you send me a copy of my password without resetting it?
    For security reasons, GFACE does not have the facility to send you a copy of your current password. However, you can reset your password. See the above related questions.
  • I am not receiving the email to reset my password.
    • Please check the Junk/Spam mail folder in your email account in case the email to reset your password was misdirected by your email provider.
    • If you're unable to find the password reset email, try to reset your password again.
    • If you still don't receive an email after requesting a password reset a second time, we may be experiencing temporary issues that are affecting password reset emails. Please wait 24 hours.
    • If you’re still not receiving the password reset email after the trying the above steps, contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to make sure they’re not blocking email traffic coming from GFACE.
  • Account

  • Can I change my email address?
    For now you are unable to change your email address automatically. However you can contact GFACE Customer Service on: http://crytek.kayako.com from using the email address currently registered on your account, please include the new email address and your username in the body of the email, we will verify your request and change it for you.
  • Can I delete my account? Cancelling of your Closed Beta Account.
    You can, but not automatically. GFACE is still in Closed Beta, so many of the account features are still in development. If you really feel that you want to delete your account, contact us on http://crytek.kayako.com
  • My account has been terminated. What can I do?
    If GFACE terminates your Account, you may not participate in a GFACE Service again without GFACE's express permission. To request participation in a GFACE Service, send your request to info[at]GFACE.com from the email account that you used to register on GFACE.
  • Personal Details

  • Can I change my profile information?
    Yes. You can change your personal details at anytime. Just click on the Profile menu at the top of the page. To change your details, just click the pull down menu. Select the information you wish to edit. After you have made your changes, click on the “Save” button. Your information will now be updated.
  • Can I change my username?
    Unfortunately you can not change your username in the Closed BETA; In the future you will be able to edit your username. By doing so you will give up the unique name that you have which will allow other people to use it, so think carefully before you change your name.
  • What is the green dot on my profile picture?
    It is an visual indicator that makes it clear to members, that you are online
  • How can I add or change my profile picture?
    Yes. Hover over your user picture. Once the hover appears, you will be able to upload a user picture or to change you current one. You will now see you have 2 options available to you. Upload and image and take a snapshot with your webcam.

    • To upload an image, just follow the onscreen instructions. If you are using a webcam you can now have loads of fun taking snapshots.
  • Privacy Settings

  • Can I change my privacy settings? How do I see and change my privacy settings?
    Yes. You can adjust the settings buy navigating to your profile and selecting the green pull down menu next to your profile picture.
  • Who can see my Personal details?
    We have given you control over your personal details, you can change who can see your information. Your Privacy settings options will be listed: All groups (everyone who is connected with you will see your information) and Public (everyone on GFACE can see your information)
  • Can other GFACE members see my email address?
    No, they will not be able to see your email address.
  • What do you use my personal information for?
    Currently we only use you email address to identify you for login. All of the other information is only used to help people find and connect with you. All other information is completely optional. However, we have some new features coming your way soon that will use any additional information you give us to make your experience a much richer one.
  • Clouds

  • What is the GFACE Public-, People- and Interest-Cloud?
    The cloud is the center of your GFACE world. It is the main area for reading and participating in shared and public conversations, creating conversations and sharing content:

    • Public Cloud allows you to see all the posts that are either public or shared.
    • People Cloud allows you to see only the posts from people that are connected with you.
    • Interest Cloud allows you to see posts related to your defined interests.
  • Seeds

  • How do I post and share content with participants?
    To create a new post you need to click on the editor. Your post has to contain at least one character before you are able to make a post.
  • Can I define the participants of a seed?
    It’s super easy:

    • Click on the editor on Public-Cloud if you want to write a public post; everyone on GFACE will see your post.
    • Click on the editor on People-Cloud if you want to write a shared post; only connected people will see your post.
    • Click on the editor on a specific People-Cloud (Family if you want to write a shared post; only people of this specific social group will see your post.
    • You can write a private message to a specific user in these ways:
      • Go to a users profile first. Click on the editor on his profile and write your post; only he/she will see your message.
      • Click on the editor on any Cloud; specific participants should be pre-selected already; remove the group and click the "+" button to specify a single participant.
    • You can also mix up participants: Click on the editor on any Cloud; specific participants should be pre-selected already; remove the group and click the "+" to define multiple social groups.
  • What is the maximum word count for a conversation?
    For a seed its 16.000 characters; for a comment it is 1000 characters
  • The "Post" button is greyed out, why can't I click on it?
    Please make sure that you typed in at least one character. Once you have done this, the “Post” button will be active.
  • Where does my seed end up?
    You can find all your created seeds in your profile.
  • Can I modify or Delete my Seed?
    Currently we do not support deleteting or editing of seeds.
  • Share a link, image or video

  • How can I share a video? How can I share a picture? How can I embed a link?
    For now, all you can do is to create a plain text post or embed a link. You can embed a link either by copying and pasting it into the editor. Or you can click on the paperclip which will enable to you embed a link.
  • Why doesn’t my link work?
    Please make sure that you typed in a valid link.
  • How can I share from another conversation on GFACE?
    First of all you need the deep link of a seed. To get this you have to click on the timestamp of the seed you would like to share. Copy and paste the URL into the editor and then send to share the post.
  • Can I share a seed on other social touch points?
    Yes, you can. Move your mouse over the left corner of a post. The Drag and Drop State will become visible. Click on the left corner, hold your mouse. And the Drop bar will appear at the top of the screen. You will be able to add a post either to your Interest Cloud or to share the post on other touch points.
  • Notifications

  • What is the Notification inbox?
    As you start sending connection requests on GFACE, you’ll find the requests appearing in this area. First of all you can follow the status of your request. You can also modify the social groups of the specific users.
  • How do I accept a connection invitation?
    Click on "Click to connect" to run the connection manager. You need to add the person to at least to one social group before you are able to confirm your connection with this user.
  • How do I decline a connection invitation?
    For now, you can not decline the connection request. Just ignore it.
  • Connection

  • How do I add people to a social group?
    You can either drag and drop a user into specific social group on the Drop bar on the top of the screen. Or go to a user’s profile; click the "Connect" button. Before you can send a request, you have to add a user into a social group.
  • How do I find people to connect with?
    Be active on the GFACE community to discover interest people.
  • How do I disconnect with someone?
    Open the connection manager; remove the user from all social groups. Once you have removed the user from all of your groups, you will be disconnected.
  • People Groups

  • What are groups?
    Groups are your collections of people or interests that you have added to your interests or people you have a connection with or are following.
  • How do I add colours and change the name of a people group?
    You can add a colour to a group when you create a new group. Simple drag a user on to the Drop bar. Drop them on the (+) icon. This will create a people new group. Type in a name for your group and then choose a colour from the colour picker tool. Then click save when you are happy with you selection.
  • How do I add or remove someone from a group?
    Simply click on the group you wish to edit. Click on the coloured dropdown menu next to the Group icon on the right of your screen, hover over the profile image of the user you would like to remove, and then click on the "edit connection" button. Simply deselect the groups that the user is a member of by clicking on the tick icon next to the groups. Then click “disconnect”.
  • Interest Cloud

  • What are interest clouds?
    Interest clouds are your groups of people or content that you have chosen and saved by adding them to the Drop bar.
  • How do I add colours and change the name of an interest cloud?
    You can add a colour to a group when you create a new group. Simple drag the content you want to add on to the Drop bar. Drop it on the (+) icon. This will create a new interest group. Type in a name for your group and then choose a colour from the colour picker tool. Then click save when you are happy with you selection.
  • How do I add colours and change the name of an interest cloud?
    • If you do the same process with a users profile image, you will add that user as an interest, and you will be able to follow their posts and messages. This doesn’t mean you are connected, and a connection invitation will not be sent to that user.

  • How do I add or remove something from an interest cloud?
    Simply click on the group you wish to edit. Click on the coloured dropdown menu next to the Group icon on the right of your screen, hover over the profile image of the content or user you would like to remove, and then select the "edit or delete" button. If you choose you will be show a prompt message asking you to confirm or cancel. If you choose Edit; simply deselect the groups that the content is a member of by clicking on the tick icon next to the groups. Then click “unfollow”.

  • How can I search people, media on GFACE?
    Searching on GFACE is really easy. Simply type the name of a person, or a topic of a conversation like "cat pictures" into the search bar at the top of the screen. GFACE will return all of the relevant results to you. Now you can filter the results by conversations, people or media.

  • How can I leave feedback and suggestions?
    Just open the feedback form located at the bottom right corner of your screen and describe the issue or suggestion you have by following the onscreen instructions. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

  • How do I report a user or content that is violating any of the Rules of Conduct?
    While GFACE is in Closed Beta, if you encounter another user or content that is violating any of the Rules of Conduct, please report this activity to GFACE by contacting GFACE Customer Service on http://crytek.kayako.com .

    GFACE respects the intellectual property rights of others, and we ask that everyone using our sites and services do the same. Anyone who believes that their work has been reproduced in one of our sites or services in a way that constitutes copyright infringement may notify the GFACE copyright agent by following the instructions at www.gface.com/legal
